Alive at Sunrise - Coming Soon
The new saying in The Exit Radio camp is definitely "out with the old, in
with the new." The group, formerly called Mashlin, consists of the same
lineup that garnered seemingly endless fans across the country: Aaron Harvey
(vocals/guitar), Joe Knipp (guitar), Glen Wilson (bass), and Jason Burrows
(drums). With the release of their much-anticipated debut EP, "Alive at
Sunrise," which is scheduled to be released on September 11th, 2007 by One
Eleven Records, The Exit Radio shows that they have matured and further
refined their craft.
The Exit Radio's journey began as members of two Floridian bands, Agent
Felix and Unsung Zeros, joined under the name Mashlin. The two bands had
previously played pop-punk music, but with the formation of Mashlin, the
guys decided it was time for something new and different. "We were doing the
same thing over and over again. We figured out that we had to do something
more musical that had some integrity to it," says Harvey.
The Exit Radio caught a break in 2004 when their label-mates, Rory,
introduced the band to Brad Fischetti, CEO of One Eleven Records. As
Mashlin, their debut album, Pushing Through The Seasons, was released on May
10th, 2005 and was produced by Chris Fudurich (Nada Surf, Allister, Finch).
"Melodic musical magicians designing a uniquely captivating sound," Jason
Tate of Absolutepunk.net wrote in response to the album's release. This
critically acclaimed album drew comparisons to bands like Coldplay and Muse,
but The Exit Radio has always cited bands like Radiohead and Smashing
Pumpkins as their more major influences.
Following the release of Pushing Through The Seaons, Mashlin worked
incredibly hard to secure tours with major acts like Mae, Mute Math, Circa
Survive, and The Spill Canvas. They certainly have made the most of every
opportunity they've had as a band. With a matured sound, name change, new
EP and a label that believes in them, The Exit Radio are primed to push
their music as far as it will take them.
