Robots & Rockets
It all started in the fall of 2007 when Tomas decided it was a do or die situation with CHAOSYS as it existed back then. So they entered a friend's studio in Stockholm to record what was supposed to be a serious 3-song EP.
The outcome of that was not at all what they had hoped. With three days left 'til the recording the bass player was nowhere to be found so a very talented friend Fredrik "Kvasi" Nordvall (PALE) was asked to help them record some bass on the songs. One thing lead to another and the 3-song EP turned into just one song, PSDL. After the ill-fated recording guitarist Holger Thorsin (ex. Noctes) quit the band to focus on his career as a designer. And so CHAOSYS was down to tree members Tommy Enström (drums) Stefan Lindsetdt (vox) and Tomas Åkvik (Guitar).
With maybe not the greatest production they all felt that the song PSDL sat a new standard for CHAOSYS with a more straightforward sound as opposed to before when they practised a more progressive sound. They all felt that they had a good thing going and the search for a new bass player began. The infamous Niklas Sandin (Amaran, ex. Siebenburgen) who had previously mentioned to the band, that if there ever was a vacant spot he would be happy to fill it for them. And now it was.
After some time spent writing new and rewriting some of the old material it was time to record again. CHAOSYS got a hold of Lawrence Mackrory (Enemy Is Us, FKU) to produce their songs. And he turned out to be one hell of a producer.
CHAOSYS recorded Mechanically Remastered as a 3-song EP. They all felt that it turned out really good and that they had found the sound that they were looking for. Straightforward Progressive Thrash Metal!
Now knowing in which direction they wanted to go song writing got even easier and soon CHAOSYS is set to hit the studio again to record a full length CD. And they hope that all you Chaos sluts out there will fall to your knees...
